Main duties of the job
To provide a day to day operational management of the service delivery
To practice as a qualified Senior Specialist and provide a high quality service at all times
To support the provision of the specialised decontamination service contributing to the clinical care of the patient
To apply professional judgement and utilise specialist skills and detailed scientific knowledge when reviewing and interpreting scientific data and production reports to ensure a safe service is provided
To work independently in all areas of the specialty and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner
To deputise for the Sterile Services Manager when necessary
To work unsupervised, plan own work load and work with minimal managerial direction
To work within the constraints of the budget allocation
To work as part of a team of decontamination personnel
To manage and train a team of staff as necessary
Ensure a customer and patient safety focus is maintained at all times

Harrogate Integrated Facilities (HIF) was formed in 2018 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harrogate and District Foundation NHS Trust (HDFT). We supply a wide range of essential services to HDFT hospitals and community sites, including; cleaning, catering, portering, courier and transport, hotel services, estates maintenance, sterile services, equipment library, security, car parking, general office and administration, energy, waste and environmental impact reduction.
One of our 400 + dedicated HIF colleagues, is often the first person a patient or visitor meets when they come to Harrogate District Hospital and can make a real positive difference to them. Our work is also vital to ensure that our NHS colleagues in the medical teams have the facilities and equipment they need to provide excellent care.
