Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Linen Services including Sewing Room for a committed individual to contribute as part of the Facilities Services team.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day supervision and delivery of the Linen and Sewing Room services, at all times ensuring a high quality customer focused and cost effective service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder:

  • Will assist to deliver a high quality, cost effective Linen and Sewing Room service.
  • Ensure all hygiene, safety and quality standards are maintained at all times.
  • Provide technical leadership and effectively supervision and direction to staff on a day to day basis.
  • Communicate with all users of the service on a regular basis to ensure the service specifications are being delivered to agreed standards.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 -16:00

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To demonstrate and provide ongoing leadership and supervision of a range of Linen and Sewing Room services.
  • Organise on a day to day basis, the planning and delivery of Linen Services in accordance with service specifications, work instructions and service level agreements.
  • To ensure all work is undertaken and completed in accordance with relevant policies and procedures, accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure daily linen deliveries are accurate and discrepancies raised against delivery invoices and actioned.
  • Liaise with the external laundry provider ordering, adjusting, receiving of all linen requirements including contingency stock.
  • Liaise with external laundry provider regarding outstanding items, quality issues, delays and discrepancies.
  • Ensure Return to Sender (RTS) information is up to date on departmental spreadsheets.
  • External supplier is updated of outstanding items and chase required actions.
  • Complete and maintain all admin records for all service activity.
  • Ensure maintenance of all linen contingency stocks across hospital sites.
  • Maintain effective communication through participating in relevant meetings, team briefs/cascades etc.
  • Monitor linen levels at wards/departments
  • Maintain stock for sewing room activity. Complete own work records accurately and submit to required deadlines.
  • Undertake duties within Linen services using equipment: labelling irons, sewing machine, over locker and master mover.
  • Allocate completed uniforms to staff, update and complete records
  • Asses scale of damage, wear and tear to items and decide upon best course of action to repair/alterations
  • Conduct regular audits, stock checks and service quality inspections.
  • Ensure the observance of all staff working practises: including IPC, H&S, COSHH, use of ladders
  • Accurate recording of financial information, training records, rotas etc
