Job summary

To provide a full range of support services to the Trust, covering an out of hours rota.

Management of all Facilities services, outside of normal working hours, ensuring quality services are delivered in compliance with relevant service specification and key performance indicators.

Ensure the continuous delivery of services and respond to service failures in a timely manner.

To act as key contact for all operational issues, concerns and service failures, responding to and resolving such issues in a professional and timely manner

Main duties of the job

A vacancy has arisen for a Facilities Duty Manager (Weekends) to oversee a range of facility services within CHS at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, joining a large and dedicated team.

To provide a full range of support services to the Trust.

Please note the hours of work are Saturday and Sunday 6.00am - 6.00pm with occasional night shift cover involved.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To ensure consistent high levels of service delivery of all CHS Facilities services, outside of normal working hours:-

  • To demonstrate and provide ongoing leadership and supervision of a range of Facilities tasks.
  • Ensure all equipment and services relating to the day-to-day operational management of the departments are functioning correctly and report where necessary.
  • Provide support and assistance to Management in the provision of required mandatory and essential training, to ensure staff complete all required training.
  • Support with monthly team meetings for staff working outside of normal hours, undertake toolbox talks and provide information on Facilities Services when required.
  • Provide and receive technical and non-technical information, to inform work colleagues, patients and clients. Ensuring, where relevant, such information is communicated effectively up to senior management level.
  • To respond to incidents occurring with staff within the department and inform Deputy Head of Facilities of such matters. Conduct initial investigation as appropriate.
  • To liaise with a multidisciplinary staff as appropriate to develop and maintain good working relationships and to ensure effective communication takes place at all times.
  • To receive and distribute work instructions to the appropriate service delivery staff.
  • To maintain a general understanding of the various tasks performed within each of Facilites services and support delivery where necessary..
  • Responsible for ensuring that services are delivered in compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and good practice guides, as agreed and supported by the Head of Facilities paying particular attention to Risk Management issues.
  • Respond to service delivery issues using own judgment and problem solving techniques.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication with all staff groups, ensuring staff awareness of service priorities, plans and objectives.
  • Support the Equality & Diversity Agenda within the Directorate
  • Receive, interpret and provide information relating to service needs
  • Responsible for providing patient focused service and maintaining a safe environment that supports and enhances patient care.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all support services are responded to in an effective and timely manner to support and enhance patient experience and care.
  • Give clear information to patients and visitors when asked or during incidental contact.
  • Responsible for undertaking risk assessments where required relating to support service with attention to aspects of patient care.
  • Identify and action any poor practice which may result in financial loss to the Trust and report such to the Head of Facilities.
  • Ensure all associated database, spreadsheets and information systems are managed and maintained in an effective manner ensuring they are up to date and accessible.
  • Ensure a responsive service is delivered and maintained for associated functions.
  • Carry out return to work interviews and complete all associated paperwork
  • Receive, review and interpret a range of information in relation to the provision of Facilities services, ensuring, where relevant, that such information is communicated up to management level.
  • Ensure communication and distribution lists are up to date.
  • Receive, handle, prioritise and forward, as necessary, incoming correspondence (e-mail, letter, telephone). Deal appropriately with people at all levels, using written and verbal communication.
  • Manage, and maintaining accurate, computerised databases and records relating to CHS Facilities.
  • To verbally assist hospital visitors with out of hours access to the HRI site, between the hours of 10pm and 6am.
  • To monitor and operate the EPR (Capman) system during the hours of 6pm 6.00am
  • To operate the radio system and liaise with appropriate personnel.
  • To respond to attack alarms activated on the hospital site, reporting alarms quickly to Security.
  • Undertake all such reasonable other duties as may be required as part of the role.
