Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool Solutions (NTH Solutions) is a limited liability partnership subsidiary of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust (NTHFT) set up to deliver a range of non-clinical Estates, Facilities and Procurement services across the Trust. The company is a separate legal body to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

NTH Solutions is looking to appoint a Head of Human Resources on a full time basis. Candidates will have previous experience working as senior HR professional looking to develop their career in a challenging environment. You will provide leadership, advice and guidance on all HR matters enabling NTH Solutions to optimise operational performance and strategic growth.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have an innovative approach to HR and people, and be able to work strategically but also to deliver on operational outcomes and will be responsible for strategic and operational management of the HR Service.

The role will ensure that a responsive, high quality HR service is provided to the business, supporting managers on all aspects of people management including employee relations, recruitment and retention, L&D, performance management, absence management, TUPE / restructures, MI analysis and reporting, reward and recognition, benefits and payroll.

Overseeing delivery of a high quality ER service, workforce planning and strategy development across the company.

To strategically lead and manage the relationship between the HR function and the operational services in order to continually improve and maintain a proactive and well integrated service that provides a robust HR service across the company.

Job responsibilities

Drive effective workforce planning through regular workforce discussions with the Senior Management Team.

Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all key stakeholders (i.e. SMT and Board member) to ensure all HR activities are enacted in a timely and professional manner in line with company purpose and values.

Support Managers in performance management processes, disciplinary, grievance issues and attendance matters

To work in partnership as an integral member of the management team to identify and deliver effective business focused HR and business performance solutions, which improve organisation effectiveness, enable teams to achieve business objectives and actively influence a high performance culture that is able to attract, retain, motivate and develop high quality people.

To ensure the HR function work with the operational and senior management on all business matters providing the relevant HR & business support. This will including matters relating to performance,workforce planning, talent management, workforce spend and budget, organisational change and implementation of innovation and technology focused business solutions.

Work collaboratively with senior managers and operational leads to provide professional customer focused strategic and operational workforce support of a high quality.

Develop and lead the HR and business support team, building up the reputation of NTH Solutions as an employer of choice through adherence to best practice principles. Ensuring that best practice and service delivery are standardised throughout the company and that administration processes are fully supported by the team.

Manage the HR operational and Digital teams to ensure the provision of a cohesive, standardised service that delivers consistently high standards of advice and support to managers and staff within the company.

Develop strategies and oversee implementation to coach and support managers to enable them to cut through problems and resolve any matters relating to people management.

Manage workforce planning initiatives to pro-actively analyse areas and issues of concern and recommend actions as appropriate.

As the subject matter expert, to provide advice to the Company on employment law issues, linking with the company solicitors for complex cases as appropriate. Providing specialist advice on complex or sensitive ER cases, including the overall management of Employment Tribunal cases and support hearings when necessary up to and including dismissal. Attending Appeals as appropriate.
