Main duties of the job
In this hands-on and varied front line role, you will:
- Carry out a wide range of painting and decorating tasks to a high professional standard.
- Prepare, treat, and finish surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spraying equipment.
- Select and apply paints, coatings, and finishes appropriate to each environment, including specialist healthcare areas such as theatres and wards.
- Work safely at all times with paints and materials in line with COSHH Regulations 2002.
- Record completed works using digital systems such as CAFM or PDA devices.
- Support colleagues with minor repairs and fabric maintenance tasks/activities
- Liaise with hospital service leads to schedule works with minimal disruption to services.
- Complete statutory and mandatory training.
- Working at height using a step ladder.

- Completed C&G / NVQ level 1, 2, or 3 Painting and Decorating (P&D) qualifications (or equivalent), a P&D apprenticeship, or equivalent proven practical experience
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in painting and decorating to a high standard across a variety of environments
Desirable
- Experience working in a healthcare environment
- Experience supporting apprentices or working in a multi-skilled team
Knowledge/ Skills
Essential
- Ability to work safely at all times in line with Health and Safety Regulations, and comply with organisational policies, rules, and procedures.
- Professional, reliable, and customer-focused, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and working hours.
- Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork skills, and able to work independently or collaboratively while supporting team members
- Knowledge of specialist painting, decorating, and finishing techniques, with the ability to deliver high standards of workmanship
- Must be able and willing to drive- have a full driving license
