Part-Time Assistant Catering Manager, GMS Band B2 (22.5 hours a week)

Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) is seeking a motivated and experienced Part-Time Assistant Catering Manager to lead the catering team at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. This role involves overseeing the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors while ensuring compliance with food hygiene regulations. It's an excellent opportunity to improve food service operations and make a meaningful impact on patient care and satisfaction in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Main duties of the job

- Lead and manage the catering team to ensure meals meet quality standards and comply with food hygiene regulations.

- Drive initiatives to reduce food wastage while maintaining high meal quality.

- Oversee recruitment, training and performance appraisals for catering staff.

- Administer disciplinary procedures and ensure compliance with company policies

- Collaborate with infection control teams to address food hygiene matters at the ward level.

- Deputise for senior catering managers when necessary.

- Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditure, and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

- Identify and implement continuous service improvements to maintain high-quality food service delivery.

- Supervise the catering team to ensure meals are prepared and delivered in line with GMS quality standards and food hygiene regulations

- Implement initiatives to reduce food wastage, while maintaining meal quality across inpatient areas and retail outlets.

- Manage the recruitment, training and performance appraisals to ensure a skilled and motivated team.

- Administer GMS disciplinary procedures for catering staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and maintaining staff performance standards

- Work closely with the infection control team to address food hygiene concerns at ward level and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
