Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within GMS for a competent Shift Electrical Maintenance Technician, attracting a competitive salary of £30,959 - £32,981 per annum (which includes a £4979 Enhanced Market Rate).

The post holder will be required to work within the Estates and Facilities Division based primarily at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, but expected to work at Healthcare properties on a countywide basis as necessary. The Post Holder will be part of a team and working on a shift rota system which includes alternate weekends. They are also expected to work out of hours and participate in on call rota system

Act as an Competent Person (CP) for LV and any other Mechanical responsibilities under Health Technical Memorandums (HTM) and any applicable guidance or legislation

Main duties of the job

- Be Competent Person (CP) in LV systems and doing electrical works as detailed by the WSM and AP leads on site

- Carry out routine duties and preventative maintenance as directed.

- Carry out routine repair works in patients and non patient environment

- To diagnose and repair faults in electrical services, installations, plant and equipment.

- To be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital/Cheltenham General Hospital but working at trust properties as necessary.

- Be willing to attend training and courses relevant to his / her development and organisation

- Participate in out of hour On call duties on Rota basis

To provide diagnostic and repair services to electrical building services, plant and equipment.

Principally power and lighting systems, nurse call, fire detection, security and access control systems, heating and ventilation plant and equipment and to a lesser extent mechanical plant and equipment.

ORGANISATIONAL CHART:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Recognised and registered electrical apprenticeship.

Extensive years experience in maintenance works.

BTEC ONC, City & Guilds Advanced Craft in a recognised electrical engineering discipline or equivalent recognised qualification.

To have a comprehensive knowledge of electrical building services and specialist hospital services

To be qualified to the 18th Edition IEE Regulations.

To be fully conversant with BMS and control systems.

To have an analytical fault-finding ability.

To have excellent communication skills.

To be competent in IT skills

To be able to work on own initiative.

To be able to work as part of a team.

To have a customer focused approach to work.

To hold full Current drivers licence

To observe statutory and other relevant requirements, in particular those relating to Health and Safety.

To ensure any defects in plant, equipment or the building fabric are reported through the appropriate channels of communication.

Undertake all necessary training appropriate to the post including areas of specialist hospital services.

Supervise other trade staff as appropriate.

Carry out routine duties and preventative maintenance as directed.

To monitor planned preventative maintenance schedules.

To be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital/Cheltenham General Hospital but working at trust properties as necessary.

To carry a bleep, radio hand set or mobile phone as required.

To participate in the out of hours 'on-call' provision.

To work unsocial hours as required, and return to work as and when necessary.

To work a shift rota system.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONTIONS

Continuously wearing protective clothing and frequent use of personal protective equipment.

Frequently lifting and carrying loads up to 25Kgs.

Occasionally lifting and manoeuvring loads over 25Kgs using appropriate lifting equipment. Bending, working at heights crawling in sometimes cramped conditions, in restricted spaces and in extremes of temperatures.

Regular working with body fluids, bio hazards and encountering sharps.
