Job summary
Gloucestershire Managed Services now has an exciting opportunity for two Higher Engineers to join the team at Cheltenham General Hospital.
The Medical Engineering Department at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust consists of a mixed workforce of 37 members of staff with varying backgrounds and abilities
There are workshops located on two sites, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.
These Higher Engineers will be located primarily at Cheltenham General Hospital but may occasionally provide cover for Gloucestershire Royal Medical Engineering and other customer sites.
There is a free bus provided between the Gloucester and Cheltenham sites and there are GMS provided lease cars available for other off site work.
Main duties of the job
To undertake planned preventative maintenance and repairs on medical equipment for NHS and private organizations within the county of Gloucestershire to ensure compliance with GMS, MHRA, and CQC requirements and regulations.
The medical equipment will include electrical, mechanical, electro - mechanical and medical gas systems.
To participate in external Medical Engineering service visits and other projects to ensure compliance with medical equipment regulatory requirements and best practice by maintaining established Medical Engineering quality standards.

4. To use computer skills to operate the asset management system in order to record activity and equipment details
5. To maintain ISO 9001:2015 Quality system Policies and Procedures, including identification of problems, non-conformities and improvements relevant to the wider area of Medical Engineering in order to maintain accreditation
6. To maintain safety in the use and maintenance of medical devices by following Trust, Division and Departmental health and safety policies and procedures
7. Work with GMS front line teams and operational colleagues to assist in the development and sustainability of a change in culture that will enable our teams to deliver excellent services and to achieve excellence in service delivery

Essential
- Have a recent qualification in an electronic or mechanical engineering discipline or has recent experience working in an engineering environment
- Possess a valid, UK manual shift driving license for a car
Desirable
- Awareness of ISO Quality Systems policies and procedures (ISO 9001:2015)

- Practical experience and knowledge of the principles and practices of maintaining electrical, mechanical, electro - mechanical and gas systems
- Competent with IT systems including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and Intranet
