Job summary
1. To provide specialist technical, energy, utilities and contractual building services support to GMS Operational Estates & Capital Development. Management of energy across the customer base. Management of the utilities budget and utilities contracting process. Project management of energy conservation schemes. Ensure compliance with statutory, national and local regulations, Department of Health directives, GMS policies and standing orders.
2. To ensure that all information relating to energy and utilities contracts, supply, generation and equipment is accurate, up to date and saved to GMS IT systems and the BEMS as appropriate. To ensure that asset records, relevant PPMs, CAD plans etc. relating to energy and utilities are up to date.
3. Develop, implement and update the sustainability strategy in relation to energy and utilities. Lead on the effective development and delivery of sustainability initiatives and projects to achieve carbon emission reductions and financial savings from energy and utility reduction schemes, co-ordinating and working with cross functional teams and external agencies as appropriate. Analyse successes and failures and develop service improvements to deliver results. Assist GHT in the pursuit of its sustainability goals and represent GMS on its sustainable committees.
Main duties of the job
- Support the business in the management and delivery of change across GMS by encouraging innovation, safe working, and staff involvement, through regular and effective communication, staff briefing and liaison, and building of relationships with staff at all levels to support the implementation of energy reductions initiatives in their areas.
- Be the lead manager for energy and utilities, developing a culture of energy reduction and managing the implementation of the energy section of the sustainability strategy.
- Involvement in the business planning and strategy development of GMS.
- Be responsible for the provision and development of the Trustwide strategic energy policy. Plan, produce and implement 10-year energy strategy. Responsible for Trustwide energy audit and estate energy condition
- Carryout frequent monitoring and targeting of energy usage. Provide interpretation and analysis of complex energy data to ensure the Trust is complying with governmental mandatory energy and CO2 saving targets. Compile and submit reports using information from sources such as BEMS and supplier statements / IT systems.
- Manage the implementation and running of any mandatory emissions schemes which GHT may be required to enter in the future. Act as named permit holder, compile reports and submit allowances as appropriate. Work with the operational engineers to devise ways and methods of extending the use and utilisation of the BEMS to give information on the status of the plant
