An exciting opportunity has become available within the Inclusion substance misuse team at HMP Gartree. We are recruiting for a full time band 5 Psychosocial Substance Misuse Practitioner.

HMP Gartree is a male Cat B High security prison and the Inclusion SMS team support the population by offering support for drug/alcohol issues.

You would be joining a busy, established team who would support you in your new role

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a well established, hard working team who will support you in your new role. Your day to day job will be to support the men in your care through their recovery plan. This will be through the delivery of group work session and 1:1 interventions.

You will support men prescribed OST.You will provide a range of low, medium and high intensity interventions as part of the substance misuse team to those service users experiencing substance misuse problems.

As part of the Inclusion Substance Misuse Team you would hold a case load of service users and appropriately manage your time to support their pathway through treatment. This involves completing thorough assessments and building a care plan of treatment from that assessment and following this through with the required psychosocial interventions.

  • To work within an integrated team delivering psycho-social interventions to service userspresenting with substance misuse issues, including alcohol.

  • To participate in the prisons induction programme, encouraging and motivating clients to engage.

  • To use strengths-based approaches including mapping techniques and relevant paperwork inorder to carry out initial screening assessments.

  • To carry out further assessments that includes strengths-based node-link mapping techniquesand recovery planning.

  • Work collaboratively with clinical services to ensure service users are referred for clinical servicesand supported whilst waiting for or receiving clinical treatment. Including attending joint clinicalreviews and communicating progress and needs to appropriate staff where need dictates.

  • To identify and formulate goals jointly agreed with the service user on their recovery planappropriate to their needs.
