Job summary

Our Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team at HMP Dovegate is looking for a dynamic mental health nurse. Our team is innovative, forward thinking and committed to a recovery focused approach.

You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based interventions required including health promotion within a prison environment andprovide a nursing service to prisoners taking account of cultural and spiritual beliefs/needs.

You will be responsible for the appropriate risk assessment of service users, providing effective advice, guidance and decision making process, as well asfor coordinating the care and assessment under the care coordination approach.

You will ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatment including the custody storage and administration of drugs and be responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including auditing, monitoring and reviewing of clinical practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 RMN you will work within the Integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Service to provide a nursing contribution to the multi disciplinary team. This will involve caseload management duties. You will be responsible for assessment care planning and delivery of evidence base interventions to address the mental health needs of individuals referred to the Service. You will work in partnership with other agencies, both internally within the prison environment and externally, supporting release planning where appropriate.
