Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time (part-time will be considered) B5 Sexual Health Nurse post to work across Leicester City. Leicester Sexual Health Service is a 6 day a week service and the post holder will be required to be flexible to service needs including working evenings and one Saturday a month.
The post holder will assess, plan and deliver key aspects of sexual health care depending on the knowledge, skills and experience of the practitioner, and it is expected that care delivery will evolve through learning and development. Service delivery will include the promotion / issuing of all methods of contraception, screening for sexual transmitted infections (STIs), perform diagnostic procedures and provide treatment and management of STIs in line with BASHH and NICE guidance.
The role will support the provision of care within the Sexual Health Service and work as part of a team and independently in nurse-led clinics. The post holder will provide a quality and holistic service and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs of service users.
The post holder will be an enthusiastic and innovative individual, possessing excellent communication and organisational skills including a non-judgemental attitude whilst offering screening for sexually transmitted infections, providing advice, information, counselling and education on contraception and sexual health issues.

- To be responsible for setting high standards of care within the resources available and to review and monitor these on a continuous basis, through the process of audit, to ensure continuing quality of care.
- Contribute to the delivery of evidence-based personalised and compassionate care which places quality at the heart of specialist practice. Care will be responsive to individual needs and reflect current local protocols and national guidelines.
- to provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment whereby patients can discuss any sexual health concerns and ask questions
- Be able to assess Fraser competence with young people under 16 and be aware of safeguarding referral pathways as stipulated by the Local Safeguarding Boards, liaising with other professionals as necessary.
- To work within Patient Group Directions criteria issuing relevant treatments for sexually transmitted infections and contraception.
- To maintain high quality clinical records as applicable, respecting confidentiality at all times, consistent with the Trust's record keeping policy and NMC record keeping standards.
- To liaise with other partners and exchange relevant information in order to facilitate partner notification and to liaise with other local or national agencies as appropriate.
- Show an awareness of clinical competencies and scope of practice, and when to refer on to a senior member of the team in a timely manner.
