Job summary

The day to day management of the Integrated offender mental health and substance misuse team. This includes the management of resources, first line management of staff, caseload management and supervision and working in close collaboration with the Senior Cluster Manager and Regional manager.

The post holder will oversee the team's delivery of evidence based therapeutic interventions for prisoners experiencing a range of mental health and substance misuse difficulties. The role involves close working with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies, locally, regionally and in some instances nationally.

The object of the team is to assess, plan and offer therapeutic interventions to a wide range of people with differing needs, working in partnership to empower services users. A priority will be to ensure that those prisons requiring transfer to secure hospital are identified and transferred in a timely manner. Care will be delivered under the framework of The Care Programme Approach and Recovery Agenda and it will be the team manager's responsibility to manage the compliance of the team.

This role requires the demonstration of leadership skills to promote high quality evidence based, safe care to service users and to develop and maximise staff and service potential.

Main duties of the job

To provide team leadership in co-ordinating the day to day provision of integrated wellbeing, mental health and substance misuse healthcare to service users in a custodial setting and maintain the overall standards which will include a single point of referral assessment and delivery of care within the framework of The Care programme Approach and recovery agenda.

This will involve both clinical responsibilities of managing a small caseload as well as day to day operational responsibilities and will require the post holder to deputise for the clinical lead as and when appropriate/required.
