Job summary

We are seeking an experienced manager to support and develop the Substance Misuse Service in HMP Bullingdon. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and have specialist knowledge of substance misuse and prisons.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • The management and delivery of a needs led and recovery-focussed integrated psychosocial service within a custodial setting.
  • To manage, direct and support the supervision of SMS within the cluster of establishments including psychosocial and the delivery of the programmes.
  • The management and implementation of a range of psychosocial interventions including the Inclusion Step Forward Programme for Prisons (ISFPP) to substance misusing offenders within a prison environment.
  • Developing and supervising links and pathways to enable the SMS service to work in partnership with key agencies to ensure service users are supported on their individual recovery journeys.
  • To oversee the recruitment, management, development, training and delivery of the Inclusion Step Forward Programme

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will be to:

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team, in a cluster of custodial environments ensuring a high standard drug and alcohol recovery service is delivered in response to the needs of the service users.
  • Ensure a full range of psychosocial interventions that motivate and support service users to achieve recovery and positive outcomes within a recovery-orientated substance misuse treatment service.
  • Be responsible for the provision of a drug and alcohol recovery service (incorporating assessment, recovery planning, casework coordination and psycho-social interventions) to problem drug and alcohol users located within the prison establishment.
  • Effectively supervise liaison and develop links with partner agencies to provide a through-care service for prisoners from the point of entry into the prison system to release into the community so that re-offending is reduced and the health, well-being and social functioning of Service User is improved.
  • Contribute and work within the prison and wider drug strategy.
  • Report to PPG on all issues relating to contract delivery and performance.
  • Nationally manage the implementation of the Inclusion Step Forward Programme in custodial and community settings.
  • Act as the lead advisor and coordinator for staff and development of the Inclusion Step Forward Programme.
