MPFT has a vacancy for Specialist Grade Doctor in Sexual Health and HIV covering clinics in Stoke on Trent
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to provide high quality evidence based holistic care for patients with sexual health needs incorporating both Genitourinary Medicine and Sexual and Reproductive Health.
Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is an experienced provider of sexual health services delivering services across Stoke and Staffordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
We have designed our integrated service model around a life course approach illustrating the wide range of services and programmes offered by the service to support the delivery of universal, primary and secondary levels of care. The service model is based on a "Hub and Spoke" system supported by targeted outreach to vulnerable groups
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join and contribute to the leadership of the large multi-disciplinary team.
The appointment is on a less than full time (9 Programmed Activities) basis. The post holder will be expected to work with some flexibility to meet the overall needs of the service within the Partnership Trust and the clinical, teaching and managerial work may take place at the other sites across the Partnership Trust or at home if appropriate.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to shape the development of the department and its workload.
In addition to providing clinical care, the post holder will support, train, supervise, assess and mentor other clinical staff in the service, including West Midlands GUM specialist registrars, GP postgraduate doctors in training and nursing staff as well as contribute to the undergraduate Sexual Health teaching programme through Keele University.

- Promotion of long-acting reversible contraception LARC

- Regular review of laboratory results
- Counselling on all aspects of STIs for patients and their partners/family members

- Assessment for and management of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEPSE) for HIV infection and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
- To work with colleagues in other specialties for the benefit of patients

- Thorough, up-to date knowledge of clinical issues related to contraception and STIs
- A working understanding of child and adult safeguarding issues
