Job summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Lived Experience Trainee Recovery Worker within HMP Bullingdon which is a large, busy CAT B Local Remand Prison.
Research demonstrates the powerful impact that lived experience has on improving outcomes for recovery from substance misuse, therefore we are looking for an individual with lived experience of substance misuse and the prison system who would like to train as a Recovery Worker.
You will be provided with excellent training over two years and once you have successfully completed this you will then progress to a Band 5 Recovery Worker (no previous NVQ qualification required, to apply)
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, in a custodial environment delivering a high standard drug and alcohol recovery service in response to the needs of the service users as part of Inclusion and Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation trust.
The team in Bullingdon provide psychosocial substance misuse interventions and work closely with the healthcare provider who deliver clinical services. As part of the team you will be involved in completing assessments, delivering group work and building strong relationships with the community services to allow continuity of care on release for our service users.
Main duties of the job
The aim is to provide hope, motivation, and support for men in recovery in HMP Bullingdon and improve continuation of care to remain drug and alcohol free on their release.
You will be working with the service users and multi-agency team members to support the delivery of Recovery focussed outcomes by promoting and creating opportunities in visible recovery, harm reduction and brief interventions.
The training role will lend itself to someone who has lived experience of substance misuse, and the judicial system and would like to gain experience working within this field. After successful completion of the 2 years training you will have the opportunity to progress to a Band 5 Recovery Worker position.
