KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main duties and responsibilities

Clinical

• Working as part of two multidisciplinary teams (EiP & ARMS), to provide highly specialist systemic assessments and family therapy for clients and their families.
• To formulate a range of treatment options based on an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods based upon evidence e.g. NICE
• To work in ways which are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs of families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds.
• To provide highly specialist systemic psychotherapy as an autonomous senior clinician, drawing on a range of models and techniques. To practice in a way which is inclusive and considerate of the needs of each individual in the system, their varying developmental stages and current emotional state. Ensuring that consultation, assessment and treatment interventions are provided in partnership with clients and their families.
• To ensure that appropriate feedback on caseload is provided to relevant stakeholders, and that feedback from service users is utilised to enhance and develop service delivery. To be responsible for attending relevant professionals meetings and reviews where appropriate.
• To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment (including on-going risk assessment) and treatment of young people and their families as appropriate. Responsible for ensuring that referrals and discharges are made in accordance with all the Trusts relevant policy and procedures and the principles of good practice.
• To provide highly specialist consultation, advice and guidance to other professionals working with families both within the service and in partner agencies.
• To maintain high standards of clinical record keeping and to adhere to policies and procedures as defined by Health and Social Services/Education/Other Statutory Bodies and to adhere to professional ethical standards and codes of practice of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT; or equivalent) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
• To demonstrate awareness of research and its application to clinical practice.
• To communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner information concerning assessment, formulation and treatment plans of patients. To effectively communicate professional opinion, verbally and in writing to families, other professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies.
• To contribute to the writing of information sheets and leaflets as necessary.
• Working in partnerships with other lead Agencies, to ensure that Safeguarding Children/Child Protection issues are addressed effectively and within all local procedures.
• To communicate effectively with families, members of the multidisciplinary team and other statutory and voluntary agencies and maintain close links with relevant clinicians and services, overcoming any barriers of communication.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified as a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist
• Has first two years of Family & Systemic training

Desirable

• Worked in an EiP/ ARMS team
• Systemic Supervisor
• Has extensive post-qualification experience
