Our service encounters a vast array of clinical presentations, from primary mental health needs of anxiety, low mood and adjustment to the custodial setting to severe and acute mental illness requiring intense, multi-agency support. Working within a prison requires resilience and compassion as well as an insight into issues pertinent to people within the custodial setting. The environment enables work with a variety of professionals both in the establishment and in the community to support recovery and reduce reoffending.

  • Assist in the delivery of patient care, as directed by registered practitioners, substance misuse recovery workers and the team manager, undertaking duties and activities with limited or indirect supervision in the prison setting.
  • Promote social inclusion and recovery through the provision of high quality patient care.
  • Show commitment to and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health and substance misuse problems.
