We are looking to recruit Trainee High Intensity therapists to work in Inclusion Thurrock NHS Talking Therapies service which serves the whole of Essex.
This service provides high quality evidence-based psychological therapies in primary care across the Thurrock locality, based in surgeries, health centres and other community or health hubs.
This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to patients with a range of common mental health problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
The trainee CBT position includes undertaking the PG Diploma in Evidence-Based CBT provided by University of East Anglia in Norwich.

Applicants must have a first degree in an allied discipline (usually Psychology)
Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners MUST HAVE a minimum two years post-qualification experience from the date on your certificate.

Main duties of the job
As a Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapist you will be undertaking training in an evidence-based therapeutic model that will allow you to work with people who experience common mental health difficulties.
The training is intensive and thorough and requires an individual dedicated and committed to developing the skills necessary to become an accredited psychological professional. It is delivered at pot-graduate level by University of East Anglia in Norwich.
Travel will be required to and from Norwich to attend in-person training days.
This is not a remote-only post, and in-person work in Thurrock will be required.
The post holder will work in the service for 3 days of the week bringing their already well-developed skills to practice at the same time as using the newly developed skills from the training programme which they will attend for the other 2 days.
In-house training and support will equip you to work in a busy, high-performing NHS Talking Therapies service, and your academic studies will provide the psychotherapeutic framework to provide treatment to a range of people with common mental health difficulties (depression and anxiety disorders).
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
Upon successful completion of the training course, candidates will move to a Band 7 substantive role.

- Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
- Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions.
- To evaluate and make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.
- Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes drawing on a range of theoretical and therapeutic models across a range of complex problems with which clients present.
