Job summary
We are looking for two enthusiastic and passionate people to deliver quality psychosocial interventions on HMP Featherstone's new Drug Recovery Wing (DRW).
These are specialist roles and will be based on the DRW in a provided office so you are integrated within the DRW community. You will work closely with the DRW specific officers and the wider integrated Inclusion team.
The DRW is part of a national initiative and the government's 10-year strategy to tackle drug-fuelled crime. It's a space for people who are on their recovery journey and want to access treatment and support to stop using substances, it is separate to the main population. The DRW will be entirely abstinent from all substances and will engage in a specialised treatment programme and community, with their own regime independent from the rest of the prison, people will not leave the wing to go to work and education but will still leave the wing for visits, healthcare and gym access.
There is a planned regime which you will be heavily involved with by delivering group interventions as well as one to one support. This role will require you to work closely with the DRW team/community and engage with the Drug Strategy Leads. These are new roles and require experienced, dedicated and passionate people to facilitate the right compassion and support for this specialist wing.
Main duties of the job
The hours are full time (37.5 hours) working 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Start and finish times will vary depending on evening groups, etc.
The main duties will include:
- To provide a range of low, medium and high intensity interventions as part of the Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team to those people experiencing substance misuse problems.
- To work in a custodial environment delivering a high quality drug and alcohol recovery service in response to need.
- To provide a range of psycho-social interventions motivating and supporting people to achieve recovery and positive outcomes within a recovery-orientated substance misuse treatment service.
- To work in collaboration with clinical prescribing services to ensure the needs of each service user is met.
- To provide a drug and alcohol recovery service (incorporating assessment, recovery planning, casework coordination and psycho-social interventions) to people located within the prison establishment.
