Catering assistant

Job summary

Develop and maintain a good professional rapport with service users - Nursing/Housekeeping Staff, dining room customers being polite and courteous at all times.

Ability to work primarily alone or as part of the wider team.

Maintain confidentiality at all times

Attend staff meetings and communication briefs as required.

Main duties of the job

o Works primarily alone in providing a catering service

o Food preparation following all food safety legislative and departmental practices

o Complete daily and & cleaning duties according to cleaning schedules ensuring all C.O.S.H.H. regulations are followed

o Regular checking and completion of daily audit records (safety, cleaning, food hygiene)

o To be familiar with the security of the department and its contents and unlocks/locks department on daily basis

o Report equipment defects to ensure remedial action is taken

o Responds to requests for further/out of hours food requirements for patients and dining rooms

o Places top-up orders for food with main kitchen using own judgement

o Service of food to customers within dining areas

o Operation of electronic cash registers and handling of monies
