Job summary

Assist/Support craft persons in carrying out planned preventative and breakdown maintenance of plant, equipment and associated services situated in all areas and departments as directed by Workforce Manager or Supervisor. Carry out work of a semi-skilled nature without supervision and undertake labouring and cleaning duties as required, under extreme conditions this shall include snow clearing and gritting.

We do not hold a sponsorship licence and are unable to offer employment under any sponsorship arrangement.

Main duties of the job

Reactive Maintenance: Assist with/undertake the maintenance of plant, equipment and associated services at the request of engineering officers and or maintenance supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Minor plumbing duties, ie unblocking toilets, drains, etc,

  • Cleaning duties ie radiator covers, light fittings, etc

  • Water related tasks, ie flushing, testing, etc

  • Installation and repair of fixtures/fittings, ie dispensers, whiteboards, signage, etc

  • Grounds work, ie gritting, snow clearing, litter picking, grass cutting (as and when required)

Planned Maintenance: Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspection and testing in accordance with company & customer procedures and manufacturers specifications. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cleaning duties ie ventilation grilles, plantrooms, etc

  • Water related tasks, ie flushing, testing, recording temperatures, etc

  • Alarm testing, ie fire alarms, lift alarms, etc

  • Portable appliance testing

Actively participate in the operation of the QE Facilities helpdesk, including the timely completion of work dockets via a PDA (handheld device) this includes job sheets with a Tradesman's report detailing time taken and materials used for costing purposes.

Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

QE Facilities work to their own Terms and Conditions and these are not the same as Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Terms and Conditions. This is not an Agenda for Change Pay Rate.
