Job summary
Professionally and Technically responsible for project management, project procurement and project design for allocated schemes on behalf of QE Facilities (QEF).
The production of Project Brief's' Concept Designs, Spatial Coordination, Technical Design, Site Supervision and Handover of projects undertaken by the company.
Main duties of the job
- Prepare, Co-ordinate and manage the delivery of delegated construction projects and support as necessary the activities of Capital Project Team members assigned to such projects.o Collaborate in the formulation of long-term development plans for all hospital premises in the Trust to enable the delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives.o Collaborate in the preparation and development of an Estate Strategy.o The delivery of the assigned projects within the Capital Programme in accordance with the agreed time, cost, and quality requirements.o Collaborate in the maintenance and management of a Trust wide property database including QEF information and records.o Prepare Business Cases for delegated projects and contribute advice to ensure that any bid for funding accurately reflects the user requirements, operational policy and financial implications.o Assist the Development & Commercial Works Manager and Deputy Development Manager to maintain effective partnerships with the other Directorates.o Contribute expert advice and support on all issues relating to delegated construction projects.o Assist in the development and interpretation of highly complex strategic plans and aspirations as these relate to delegated projects and communicate these to others.o Maintain relationships with user interest groups and the local community.

QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.
We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).
In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

- Initiate and chair meetings, represent the Deputy Development Manager in their absence, including writing and circulating all appropriate Project Management Documentation e.g., Agendas, Minutes, Progress Reports, Performance Reports, Post Project Evaluation etc. Establish professional standards and monitor the quality of designs order to ensure compliance with published guidance and achieve facilities that meet modern healthcare requirements. Responsible for the day-to-day management of delegated projects and staff assigned to deliver such projects. Ensure Controls Assurance Standards and all other statutory requirements are met on all projects. Ensure contracts are prepared in accordance with policies and procedures and are in the best interest QEF or their appointed external client. Assist in interpreting legislation and other specialist requirements that may impact on projects. Identify and manage risks associated with projects in the form of a risk analysis and risk register. Support the Development & Commercial Works Manager in ensuring QEF projects comply with statutory and mandatory health and safety legislation. Support the Development & Commercial Works Manager in the implementation and adherence to QEFs Safety Policies. Ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect the health and safety of staff, patients and visitors and comply with agreed control measures identified within the risk assessment process. Understand and comply with all Health and Safety legislation and ensure effective project structures exist to develop and apply policies and procedures which minimise risks.

- Have a degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology or Building Surveying
- Evidence of Project Management qualification
- Minimum of five years' experience of the building process and particularly the design, detailing, specification, and supervision of complex construction projects (ideally Acute Health related, including Primary Care Facilities) of which three years will have been at a senior level.
Desirable
- Be qualified and eligible for membership of a recognised professional body eg RIBA, CIAT or RICS
- Be prepared to undertake further studies and training to develop technical abilities and skills
