A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced healthcare scientist to apply for the role of Training and Development Manager for North West London Pathology on a 12-month fixed term or secondment basis.
This is a key role to lead on our training strategy to support the skills required across our Pathology workforce. You will be working to develop existing staff as well as healthcare science graduates and people from non-scientific backgrounds to produce additional scientific and support workforce for our hospital pathology laboratories.
The post holder will apply initiative, innovation and drive to scope the workforce training needs of NWLP and deliver against NWLP's People strategy. You will work closely with our Network Practice Educator and with other education and workforce professionals in other health organisations to share good practice and to strengthen opportunities for development and networking.
You will work closely with the laboratory managers and training leads, to undertake a pathology wide workforce planning exercise and training needs analysis for the non-medical workforce of NWLP. Ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive vision for the continued development of education and workforce arrangements for NWLP, with robust governance surrounding education and learning for our workforce.
You should have a master's level or equivalent education, experience in biomedical sciences or related care science discipline and current HCPC registration.
Main duties of the job
- Provide strategic leadership for education and workforce development across NWLP, working closely with Directors of Operations and People.
- Ensure robust governance, policy compliance, and quality assurance for education, learning, and workforce planning.
- Lead pathology-wide workforce planning, training needs analysis, and future workforce model development for the non-medical workforce.Coordinate and deliver high-quality education and training with divisions, training leads, and external partners, fostering a strong learning culture.

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
