Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for this band 4 AP role in the Blood Sciences Lab within the Hammersmith Hospital site of NWLP.

In this role, you would be required to carry out tasks in all the Blood Sciences disciplines including the front loading/ maintaining the Automated (floor standing) analysers in Blood sciences.

The laboratory also operates a 24-hour-seven- day -a-week service and it is an essential requirement of full participation on all Late shifts and contractual weekend/ unsocial shifts.

It is an essential requirement that applicants are able to carry out pre- analytical processes of booking in a wide variety of pathological specimens and therefore experience in this area is important. The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent communication &organisational skills with a keen desire to learn to meet the demands and requirements highlighted.

Main duties of the job

  • To process a range of pathological specimen under the supervision of biomedical scientistsfor screening, diagnostic and monitoring purposes and provide accurate, timely andappropriate analytical data.
  • To be capable of working under a reduced level of supervision when necessary.
  • To work flexible hours as determined by the needs of the service.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.

  • A Levels qualified, including science subject or NVQ 4 or IBMS Certificate of Achievement (Part 2) or Foundation degree
  • Proven equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
