Job summary
We are offering the opportunity to be part of this organisation as we currently have vacancies for Biomedical Scientists at Band 6 level to join the team in Microbiology in the hub on the Charing Cross site. We are looking for individuals who are motivated and committed to being part of a team that delivers a quality service to patients.
The successful candidates MUST hold a Specialist Diploma or equivalent and have, as a minimum, 2 years post registration experience and must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills covering the different areas of Microbiology. Experience of working across all sections in Microbiology is therefore essential. Previous use of Kiestra and Urimast would be considered an advantage. High attention to detail is a critical requirement of this post.
Previous work experience in a busy hospital laboratory is essential.
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development is also essential..The appointed persons will be required to work across a 7 day working pattern, working 37.5 hours/week.Applicants must have a desire to learn and develop within our busy laboratory. There will also be an opportunity to look around the laboratory on the day of interview.
Current Band 5s who are near to completing their Specialist portfolio are also invited to apply.
Main duties of the job
Collaborate effectively within the department to deliver a professional clinical laboratory service.
Perform core scientific and interpretive work in line with the qualifications of a Registered Healthcare Scientist.
Participate in appropriate training courses and continuous professional development (CPD)programs.
Supervise unqualified staff and deputise for section leaders as needed.
Provide specialist clinical technical services, including involvement in research and auditactivities.
Delivery of comprehensive diagnostic services while maintaining high standards of safetyand quality.

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
