Job summary

We are seeking for two enthusiastic, self-motivated band7 Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Senior Biomedical Scientist team leader with proven extensive post HCPC experience in viro-serology and an IBMS specialist portfolio in virology or equivalent demonstrable knowledge/ experience to join our friendly and dedicated serology service team within Blood Sciences Multidisciplinary Laboratory (MDAL) at Charing Cross Hospital, North West London Pathology.

This is a fantastic opportunity for current or aspiring Band 7 candidates who are looking to enrich their experience in a new environment.Applicants should be highly competent in serology result validation and will have responsibility for delivering a high-quality routine laboratory diagnostic service managing the technical team & ensuring smooth running of the laboratory.

Main duties of the job

Good knowledge of health & safety processes, automation, communication, team working, and supervisory skills are essential to guide and manage the junior technical staff.

You will also play a crucial role in managing our department's quality systems and maintaining UKAS accreditation.As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to train the next generation of scientists, passing on your knowledge and passion for your discipline.

As both biochemistry and serology assays are performed on same platforms, the successful candidate will be expected to work with biochemistry team in harmonisation. The laboratory is covered for 24 hours seven days a week and the successful candidate would be expected to participate in the late/weekend shifts and contribute to the continuity and quality of care for patients in the Trust hospitals. Staff are also expected to work across our six hospital sites when required.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
