Medical Laboratory Assistant

Job summary

A Medical Laboratory Assistant responsibility is the pre-analytical process of all the specimen received in the lab, interacting with patients and clinical users.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work in specimen reception booking in specimens, transporting specimens to relevant laboratory area, booking and sending off referral work as well as the maintenance and housekeeping of the specimen reception section.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.

  • oA recognised qualification in Maths and English Language, or Science and Humanities as alternative.
  • oMinimum NVQ level 3
  • oor proven equivalent laboratory experience

Desirable

  • oGCSE / O levels in Maths, English Language, Biology and Chemistry or equivalent (Grade C or above)
