North West London Pathology (NWLP) is a new partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust. The partnership represents a new model for delivering pathology testing in a modern, efficient operation that manages 25 million tests per year. Our services are delivered at six hospital sites across North West London. We are now offering a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Specimen Reception team at Charing Cross. You must have previous laboratory experience and be committed to being part of a team that delivers quality patient results. You must have high attention to detail and be able to follow laboratory protocols. A working knowledge of different analysers and laboratory techniques would be an advantage. Good communication skills and adherence to Trust values are essential. There will be opportunity to grow and develop within this role. Due to a re-provision of all major analytical equipment, you will be working with new, state of the art equipment including: Abbot Alinity CI, Abbott Alinity HSQ. Main duties of the job
Triaging/sorting received pathology samples for different departments according to priority;
o accurately receipting pathology requests, data entry using the Laboratory information system (LIMS);
o Pre analytical processing of samples;
o Assisting and supporting healthcare scientists in providing a professional effective pathology laboratory service;
o Participating and contributing to effective communication within the department / hospital;
o Storing and distributing samples to laboratories in a timely and efficient manner for testing;
o Maintaining and providing good customer relations and services to patients and other service users;
o Pre-analytical manipulation of samples, centrifuging and aliquotting;
o monitoring of stock levels;
o Daily maintenance, changing/replacing reagents, running of QCs;
o Temperature monitoring;
o Decontamination of equipment;

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
