Job summary
North West London Pathology is looking to a focused and methodical Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join the Specimen Reception team at St Mary's Hospital London.
MLAs are the first point of contact for the Laboratory therefore a friendly, approachable personality and excellent communication skills are essential.
The role includes pre-analytical sample sorting, preparation, data entry, receipt and maintenance of stock, attending to telephone queries from service users and adhering to health & safety responsibilities.
You should have good attention to detail, manual dexterity and the ability to follow defined protocols whilst working quickly and effectively under pressure. Experience of manually entering patient information quickly and accurately onto various laboratory computer systems, including Sunquest would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
- Assist and support registered Healthcare Scientists in providing a professional laboratory service
- Contribute to the efficient and effective running of department and sections as appropriate.
- Provides basic clinical technical services to patients that may include research and audit samples

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
