Head of Project Delivery (Project Implementation)

Job summary

The core duty of this role is to lead project implementation in digital project delivery for South Warwickshire Hospital Foundation Trust (SWFT) and George Eliot Hospital Trust (GEH) the Trusts. The Head of Project Delivery (Project Implementation) will provide team leadership and management of the Project Management team, and skilful engagement with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Project Delivery (Project Implementation) is a senior client-facing role with responsibility for delivery of digital projects and associated benefits into) and GEH under the Innovate Acute Portfolio. The Head of Delivery (Project Implementation) will work closely with the Head of Project Delivery (Digital Transformation) to ensure timely and successful delivery of an exciting digital programme of work and drive transformational change for the clients.

Staff Management & Leadership

To exercise leadership with regard to implementation of digital and digital Programme within the Trusts, providing guidance, mentorship and support for the Project Management team to ensure successful project delivery

Line management duties include recruitment, induction, identification of training needs, staff development, objective setting and performance management, management of absenteeism, grievance and disciplinary procedures and general communications in accordance with Innovates policies and procedures.

Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture, emphasizing accountability, flexibility, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Promote the use of IT to Trust staff to achieve more effective operational practices and to act as a vehicle for organisational change.

To act as a Senior Manager in the Programmes & Digital Transformation Directorate, leading and deputising for senior staff as required.

Resource Planning and Allocation:

Collaborate with Heads of Portfolios and workstream leads across Innovate to understand project requirements to optimise resource allocation across multiple projects and clients, ensuring aligned utilisation of skills and expertise.

Anticipate and proactively address capacity constraints, working with the Heads of Portfolio, workstream leads and key stakeholders across Innovate to balance workloads and prioritise projects.

To lead on the recently established Innovate New Works Request and Digital Prioritisation process for Trust digital projects, ensuring the process remains fit for purpose.

Project, Programme & Portfolio Management:

Work closely with project and business change managers and Innovate Heads of Portfolios to identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, act as an escalation point, and drive projects to successful completion.

To ensure programme management systems and documentation is maintained end-to-end through the project life cycle in support of the Trusts Digital Programmes.

To co-ordinate actions arising from the Trusts Digital Healthcare Board, Project Boards and Implementation Groups.

To ensure that Projects and Programme are delivered to a high standard with robust governance, adopting relevant best practice, whilst adhering to NHS, Trust and Innovate guidelines.

Strategy

To represent Digital Transformation and Innovate on any client projects, supporting the delivery of Innovate and the Trusts digital strategy, ensure that the work of the Portfolio project team is aligned and that projects are effectively contributing to the strategy.

Business Cases and Procurement

To produce and contribute to Business Cases for new digital solutions or other proposal as required for internal and external approval at all levels. The post holder will play a leading role in engaging stakeholders to secure the necessary information, including financial, and approvals.

To work with the client, procurement and stakeholders within Innovate to support tender processes, in accordance with national and local guidelines and frameworks.

To ensure that Innovate meets its obligations with third party IT suppliers in identifying their resources required for implementation of any digital project

To manage the financial aspects of any digital project implementation in relation to change of scope, unexpected supplier or other costs in accordance with Innovates standards of budgetary control and probity.
