As a Catering Assistant you would be responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective production & service of a high quality of meals & beverages, for patients, staff and visitors, including associated cleaning and hygiene related duties.

Main duties of the job

20 hours per week (2 posts)

The catering department requires catering assistants to maintain cleanliness and sanitation within kitchen, production, central wash and staff changing areas. The role will be on a rota basis between the hours of 2pm and 6pm and may include weekend working. This is a physical role requiring the use of machinery including floor scrubbers.

Main duties of the job

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in designated work areas within documented cleaning schedules, as well as ad hoc duties as requested by your duty supervisor
• Support in stock control and stock rotation in line with HACCP guidelines for both patient and retail areas.
• Recording of food temperatures
• Recording fridge/freezer temperatures
• Monitoring fridges/chilled units and ensuring food are within use by date
• Reporting faults, accidents and adverse incidents
• Replenishing and merchandising all food display units and maintaining appropriate records
• Demonstrating excellent customer care skills, courtesy and politeness
• Adhering at all times to all Choice Policies and procedures
