Job summary
Support service installations and their maintenance are an
essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. An exciting
and challenging position has arisen for a successful applicant to undertake
the relevant training via a Mature Apprenticeship scheme to allow them to meet
the essential criteria of a specified trade position within CHoICE.
The successful applicant will be
working towards the obtaining of the standards outlined within the Maintenance
Craftsperson (Plumbing) Job Description and will require the individual to
learn and study all aspects of plumbing, electrical and mechanical engineering.
Employed by CHoICE, a wholly owned company of the South Tyneside &
Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, the successful applicant will form part of the
Hard FM teams sustainable staffing programme and work towards the completion
of a tailored training plan in partnership with the Northern & Yorkshire
NHS Assessment Centre (NYNHSAS).
As part of the apprenticeship, the successful applicant
will be released to college to allow them to study for the technical knowledge
aspect of the apprenticeship, it is typical that this is achieved over one day
/ evening per week for the first two years of the role and practical basic skills training as a block release for approximately 8 months.
Please note: Interviews are potentially being held on Monday 24th July.
Main duties of the job
Furthermore, the successful applicant will commence training and work towards their End Point Assessment to achieve their full Apprenticeship Standard. This training will take place within the Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
The
apprenticeship will potentially commence during the week commencing 21st
August 2023 subject to all necessary funding and employment checks being
carried out, including a colour blindness test. It is essential that the
successful applicant has prior experience/knowledge of operating/maintaining engineering/building related services. Formal acceptable qualifications on
entry are usually a minimum of
GCSE at Grade B / 5 in Mathematics and Grade C / 4, or equivalent, in at least
4 other subjects to include a science based subject.
There
is no guaranteed progression to the trades person job description and
subsequent terms and conditions upon completion of the relevant training. It is
envisaged and the Departments current desire that the successful applicant will
work towards naturally progressing into an established trades person vacancy
upon completion of the relevant training. If however suitable positions/funding
does not support this, then the applicant would naturally transfer and work
within the job description and terms and conditions of those outlined as a
maintenance assistant within the Hard FM team.
