Level 3 Apprenticeship Painter & decorator Fixed Term for 4 years
Support service installations and their maintenance are an
essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. An exciting
and challenging position have arisen for Level 3 Apprenticeships in Painting
and Decorating. Employed by CHoICE, a wholly owned company of the South
Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, the successful applicant will
work towards the completion of a tailored training plan in partnership with the
Northern & Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre (NYNHSAS).
As part of the apprenticeship, the
major element of the apprenticeship is practical training in painting and
decorating to Level 3 Standard. The successful applicant will attend College
either one day per week or block release depending on location and college to
ensure that they can meet the necessary full Apprenticeship Standard.
Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant will attend a College to study for the technical knowledge
aspect of the apprenticeship for example one day / evening a week for the first
two years and practical basic skills training as a block release for
approximately 8 months. Once this has been achieved, the applicant will then
commence training towards their End Point Assessment to achieve the required
full Apprenticeship Standard, this will typically take place within the
Employing organisation and NYNHSAC.
The apprenticeship
will potentially commence during the week commencing 25th August 2025
subject to all necessary funding and employment checks being carried out,
including a colour blindness test. Qualifications acceptable on entry are
usually a minimum of GCSE at
Grade B / 5 in Mathematics and Grade C / 4, or equivalent, in at least 4 other
subjects to include a science based subject.

Job responsibilities
To follow instructions, training, guidance to achieve applicants Apprenticeship
Standard with the timeframe agreed and work with the Trust statutory requirements.
Interpret
and work from instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to the
trade with supervision.
Set
out new work appropriate to the trade using relevant instruments and machinery,
with supervision.
Participate
in the training of the Estates Department personnel, as required.
Undertake
a wide range of work involving other crafts for example plastering, wall
papering, dry lining etc.
Use
all relevant tools and equipment necessary for the safe and efficient
performance of delegated tasks and be trained in the use of all necessary tools
and equipment.
Ensuring
that the Employers Health and Safety Policy and local workplace rules are
adhered to at all times when undertaking the duties of the post.
Undertake
such training as required to learn new techniques and update acquired
knowledge.
Appreciate
and understand fully the inter-relationship between the various maintenance
crafts.
Undertake
such other duties appropriate to the grade of the post and ability of the
postholder as determined by the maintenance Team Leader.
Attend
college, training centres and other training organisations as necessary to meet requirements of the apprenticeship Standard
and Employer
Complete
any necessary training records / log books following completion of the work carried out on the employers
locations
Submit
all necessary paperwork to the Northern & Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre in accordance with
apprenticeship and Standard requirements
Submit
all necessary paperwork to the Employer in accordance with NHS Organisation requirements and
apprenticeship requirements
Ensure
all parties involved with training are kept up to date with progress
The
precise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on a number of factors that may be subject to change at
various stages of the training
Demonstrate
commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff
Tackle
