This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of medical education and training in Wales.

Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is seeking a Project Manager (Medical Education Reform) to lead the delivery of high-quality projects across three core reform workstreams:

Transition from undergraduate to postgraduate training

Increasing flexibility in training

Supporting and enabling medical trainers

The postholder will:

Manage a portfolio of reform projects from planning through to evaluation, ensuring delivery aligns with HEIW's strategic priorities.

Work closely with stakeholders across NHS Wales, education providers, and national bodies to deliver impactful change.

Coordinate meetings, events, and online resources to support reform objectives.

Analyse programme data, identify trends, and present recommendations to inform senior decision-making.

Lead on communication strategies, risk management, and policy/process improvements.

We are looking for an experienced project management professional with strong organisational, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills. You should be confident in managing multiple deadlines, interpreting complex information, and influencing decision-making in a collaborative environment.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Responsible for the management of a portfolio of projects within the Medical Education Reform Programme.

  • Work closely with a range of stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered effectively and efficiently and coordinate project planning, delivery, reporting, and evaluation activities aligned with HEIW's strategic objectives.

  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to a broad range of stakeholders on a wide range of issues in relation to projects within theMedical Education Reform Programme.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
