Optometry Prevention Lead

Job summary

The Prevention lead for Optometry will have overall responsibility and management for the implementation of a successful national prevention training programme across Wales.

Although this post has been advertised as a fixed term appointment, NHS staff will only be offered the appointment as a secondment. If you wish to apply as a secondment opportunity, you must have your line manager's approval. This post may be extended or made permanent at the end of the fixed term/secondment period depending on available funding and business needs.

Main duties of the job

Scope, optimise and compare existing activities, ensuring a multiprofessional national approach.

Drive implementation and engagement of prevention training for Optometry in Wales.

Ensure quality and consistency in approach in alignment with national health priorities.

Demonstrate effectiveness using an evidenced based approach.

  • Postgraduate degree level education in related Optometry qualifications
  • Knowledge of education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the UK
  • Previous experience of prevention education and training management

Experience

  • Previous roles leading similar areas of work
  • Evidence of managing complex and varied projects
  • Worked with and influenced a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Understands the prevention agenda in Optometry or similar profession

Desirable

  • Previous management role, including line management
  • Understanding of the external political and social environment, including NHS policy issues and priorities, and the wider agenda of public policy impacting on other relevant agencies

Skills and Attributes
