Job overview

As part of the translation team, to provide a translation and interpreting service to staff and the various departments in Health Education and Improvement Wales.

This includes the translation of documents from English to Welsh and occasionally from Welsh to English, as well as assisting the Communications team to provide Welsh language content via social media.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post

Main duties of the job

This role will contribute to ensuring that HEIW complies with the current Welsh Language legislation requirements, thereby helping to ensure that bilingual services are offered to our stakeholders across Wales.

The post holder will help to deliver a comprehensive Welsh language service in line with HEIW's Welsh language policies and procedures and Welsh Language legislation.

The post holder will work closely with service managers to support service improvement and ensure that the Welsh language is a key consideration in all Health Authority business.

Personaldevelopment is of high importance to us here at HEIW, and thus being the case, the post holder will have the opportunity to study a masters degree in translation at Aberystwyth University if they so wish.

  • A relevant Degree in Translation, Welsh or related area.
  • Knowledge of Office Microsoft Office software.

Desirable

  • Basic Membership of the Welsh Association of Translators and Interpreters.
  • Knowledge of interpreting and a willingness to train.
  • Knowledge of the current legislative framework for Welsh language services in the NHS.

Aptitude and Abilities
