Salaried GP Fellow in Integrated Care

Would like to work a truly portfolio carer which allows you to develop your skills in MDT leadership? Would you like to have protected mentoring and study leave? Hywel Dda and HEIW have launched a new innovative post that is fully supported and funded for 12 months. The post involves working part time in a GP practice, with protected time to develop as an MDT clinical leader with embedded mentoring and study leave sessions. The study leave time is to enable you to gain a higher qualification in a secondary interest. The GP placement will be in a keen supportive practice that will appreciate the extra sessions provided.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed GP that would be excited to join our new iGP scheme. Working collaboratively in an integrated role would result in benefits for professionals and our patients. In addition, many recently qualified GPs now wish to enhance their skills by learning more about how to lead an MDT in a protected way from senior clinicals.

The working week would comprise of four clinical sessions, two in a second interest and two non-clinical sessions (SDL and mentoring).

This role is a substantive post that would qualify the candidate the latter half of the targeted incentive scheme payment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • Primary professional qualification in medicine e.g., MBBS MB BCh
  • Full registration and in good standing with the relevant professional body, e.g., GMC
  • Obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) as a GP and gained an MRCGP or be within three months of doing so.
  • Listed on the Wales Medical Performers List
  • BLS and AED certificate valid within last 12 months
  • Commitment to CPD

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a GP and with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of involvement in leadership and management commensurate with experience, with reflection of personal impact
  • Evidence of effective team working in partnership with stakeholders to achieve common objectives

Desirable

  • An interest in MDT working and clinical leadership.

  • Agree to undertake a higher qualification in a relevant area during the post.
  • Valid DBS check
