This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within the Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport function supporting NHS services across Wales. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, effective and customer-focused delivery of Supply Chain, Logistics and Health Courier Service operations, enabling frontline teams to provide safe, high-quality care to patients.
Working within the organisation's ISO and Quality Management frameworks, the role will lead and support operational teams to maintain high standards of service performance, compliance and continuous improvement. You will contribute to the strategic development of the service, helping to shape future models of delivery that meet the evolving needs of NHS Wales.
A key element of the role involves supporting the Deputy Head of Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport with the oversight and coordination of Supply Chain & Health Courier Services services across Health Boards in North & Mid Wales. This includes ensuring consistent processes, strong stakeholder engagement and effective operational management across multiple sites.
Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport Team, the post holder will play a key role in supporting the Deputy Head of Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport in the effective oversight of Supply Chain, Logistics and Health Courier Service) functions across Health Boards within their region. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys a varied position that combines strategic planning with day-to-day operational management.
Acting as the regional manager, the post holder will ensure the efficient and effective use of resources by leading and coordinating activities across the Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport functions. They will promote cohesive working across service areas, support integrated approaches to delivery, and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance service performance.
The post holder will also be responsible for managing project timelines and deliverables that contribute to the department's business plan, ensuring that agreed targets are achieved. In addition, they will support the Deputy Head in aligning local and regional business plans with the organisation's annual delivery plan and Integrated Medium-Term Plan (IMTP), ensuring consistency and strategic alignment across the region.

- Qualified to post graduate Diploma level or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport or demonstratable experience
- Specialist knowledge of contract law / EU legislation / Transport Governance to support Procurement Services & HCS.
- Knowledge of NHS and government policies, and the political and economic climate within which healthcare is delivered.
- Qualified to Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Professional stage or CMILT.
Desirable
- Qualified in project management, i.e. PRINCE2 or alternative methodology.
