Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Primary Care Services - Transactional Services for an experienced leader to provide operational management and strategic oversight across multiple teams. This is a hybrid role, requiring a presence across our two operational sites: Companies House, Cardiff and Cwmbran House, Mamhilad Park, Pontypool, as well as home working.As the All-Wales Processing & Professional Services Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering national services that support contractors, NHS organisations and wider healthcare partners. You will lead high volume, accuracy critical functions including Prescription Processing, Professional Services, Smartcard/RA, Subsidy Card Services, Document Scanning and national Print/Post Room operations. This is a role that blends operational leadership with hands on operational influence across Wales.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide leadership and operational oversight across a wide portfolio of essential all Wales services. These include Prescription Processing, Professional Services, Smartcard/RA identity management, Subsidy Card Services, Document Scanning, and the Print and Post Room. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering high volume, accuracy critical national functions that support contractors, NHS organisations and wider healthcare partners. You will lead on continuous improvement and digital transformation, working closely with digital and service improvement colleagues to modernise processes, increase automation and strengthen operational resilience. As a national subject matter expert, you will provide guidance on complex regulatory frameworks including the Drug Tariff, NHS Wales Pharmaceutical Services Regulations and key Information Governance standards.   • Master's degree qualification or equivalent experience
  • Specialist knowledge of prescription processing systems, Primary Care statutory requirements, and statement of financial entitlement (SFE) payments rules and regulations, National Drug Tariff, and digital/identity management processes.
  • Specialist knowledge of medical records management, including the NHS Records Management Code of Practice, retention schedules, and secure handling of patient-identifiable information BS10008
  • Strong understanding of NHS Wales policy relating to contractor services and digital access management.
  • Knowledge of NHS stakeholders including Health boards, Welsh Government and NHS Trusts

  • Significant operational management experience in a high-volume processing, digital access or transactional environment across multiple teams within Primary Care.
