Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Multi-skilled Laundry Maintenance Technician based at Green Vale Laundry.
The role will involve the day-to-day maintenance of plant and equipment, including the services of steam, water, electricity and all laundry equipment including steam generation equipment, along with the occasional installation duty. A key focus of the role is to contribute to the optimal performance of the laundry PPM system, along with reactive tasks such as attending to machine breakdowns.
Duties will include the use of resources such as strategic spares to ensure optimum plant performance assisting the production team in achieving their KPI targets. The post holder must be capable of working on their own initiative working under current industry and H&S standards.
The hours of work for this role will be a continental two-week shift patten which includes 12 shift work and weekends.
Main duties of the job
The laundry technician must have served a recognised apprenticeship in either mechanical or electrical disciplines, completed a relevant City & Guilds craft certificate course and possess a sound knowledge of trade principles and practice.
They must have gained a thorough understanding of Engineering maintenance systems and have significant experience, having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility and have kept abreast of technical knowledge associated with a healthcare environment.
To provide technical information and to advise other staff groups of maintenance issues which may have an impact on service delivery.
To plan and prioritise maintenance or minor works activities on a day to day and long-term basis and to ensure the plant runs to its optimal daily.
To possess the necessary IT skills needed to enter and manipulate data associated with the Frontline maintenance activities and work on the PPM system.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential
- Range of work procedures, practices underpinned by theory or practical experience.
- Knowledge of a full range of trade procedures acquired through a 4-year accredited training course on required equipment; level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent plus relevant training or equivalent experience, plus additional training and developed skills e.g. pneumatics/hydraulics.
- Significant experience in Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance and able to demonstrate versatility and flexibility.
