We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced data engineer on a permanent basis to join our team as Principal Specialist (Data Acquisition & Warehouse). This post will play a key role in maximizing the potential of the data we collect to improve patient care and services across Wales.
The ideal candidate will combine a blend of strong technical skills with practical flair and commitment to team working for developing and coordinating key data flows into our warehouse environment, to support critical workstreams including a wide range of areas. You will act as a leader within your area, with managerial accountability for some data engineers, warehousing and acquisition professionals.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a team and can demonstrate a commitment to delivering a high-quality service. The successful applicant will need to be able to work under pressure, be responsive to fast moving deadlines and maintain positive, constructive relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations and be able to prioritise their own work.
Main duties of the job

Experience of working of the NHS and clinical knowledge would be advantageous, however practical experience and knowledge of the following would be particularly desirable:
- A champion of Data Warehouse methodologies and best practice.
- The ability to build comprehensive Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) routines
- Experience with working with large important and sensitive datasets
- Delivering technically innovative solutions in a timely manner
- Comprehensive documentation skills
- Managing Stakeholder requirements, expectations
- Proficient communication ability (verbal and written)
- Experience of using processing or analysing data in the cloud
- Google Cloud experience (Data Engineering),
- A GCP Qualification would be advantageous
