Job summary

Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual responsible for overseeing DHCW's processes and tools for managing IT assets and their service configuration. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), which is vital for effective service delivery and incident resolution.

As an experienced Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) Lead, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining the DHCW IT estate. That covers Hardware Management; including employee workstations, servers, mobile devices, and Software Management; which includes the software tools employees use, the organisation's cloud infrastructure and other digital systems and services.

Working in close collaboration with key staff in procurement, finance, infrastructure, and applications teams, the SACM Lead will manage and track the organisations IT assets through the entire IT asset lifecycle.

The SACM Lead is also responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive SACM strategy aligned with ITIL best practice. This will need to consider the organisation's goals, the risks it faces, compliance issues, and other relevant aspects to develop a strategy that maximises efficiency whilst minimizing both cost and risk.

Main duties of the job

Take a lead role when working with key stakeholders to ensure that appropriate IT assets and/or services are procured and managed, in accordance with the required timescales and ensure that opportunities for greater technical alignment and/or efficiencies are pursued.

Ensure that the organisation's services are underpinned by appropriate licence provisions maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to identify and track the lifecycle management of IT assets / configuration items (CIs) and determine trends in asset performance.

Maintain a high level of knowledge of SACM best practice and the available software tools. Keep business knowledge on key subject areas up-to-date, and act as an expert reference for these areas. This will include national policies and legislation and may involve liaison with colleagues both within NHS Wales and the commercial sector.

The ability to Identify, assess and quantify SACM related risks including misallocation of resources, non-compliance, fraud, financial management and gaps in cyber security.

Regularly research and review industry best practices and new ways of working and take a lead role in incorporating them into DHCW organisational SACM practices.
