Job summary
As part of our work to open-up the Health Systems Architecture in Wales, we are looking for a Senior Support & Business Analyst. You'll be joining our new API Platform Team supporting the large-scale publication and adoption of APIs and Web Services through the Apigee API Management platform.
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in the API Platform Team Service; providing day to day support, resolving issues, monitoring the performance, helping to ensure platform success, while adhering to governance and security.
The work will involve working with the Google Apigee product, supporting proxy solutions and application connections throughout their lifecycle. You'll be working with technologies such as webservices (e.g. SOAP/REST), cloud (GCP and Azure), Javascript, API security and healthcare standards (e.g. HL7, FHIR, etc), so it would be great if you could highlight some applicable experience/expertise in your application.
We want to make it easier for our NHS colleagues to publish APIs, stakeholders to consume, and provide visibility for the API integrations used across the NHS in Wales.
We are searching for well-rounded IT professionals who will want to influence our work and the vision for IT Healthcare in Wales. We support each other and work together on common goals. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in new work across our organisation
Main duties of the job
This post is fixed term/secondment for 20 months to meet the needs of the service.

To share your time within a dev/ops and IT service management framework,
- Gain an understanding of the Apigee application, the proxy environments, and the mechanisms in place to allow APIs to be used safely,
- Gain a basic understanding of the APIs being published,
- Build and maintain a good knowledge of the principles of Information Governance within a healthcare setting,
- Help maintain the pipeline of API publication/consumption requests,
- Respond to user queries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Help resolve operational issues,
- Resolve problems from first principle and past experience.
- Ensure all problems/faults and user support issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer and DHCW management.
- Monitor the security and performance of the platform,
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders,
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
