Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test Analyst who will work as part of the Engagement & Digital Transformation team, supporting the WLIMS replacement project throughout the project development, testing and deployment lifecycles.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain an excellent level of system knowledge from both practical use & analysis of documentation, discussions with colleagues, stakeholders etc.
  • Authoring and maintaining detailed, accurate test cases/scripts which are appropriately mapped back to the system and interfaces requirements documentation.
  • Maintenance and growth of regression testing packs for the WLIMS system.
  • Executing and reviewing the results of testing and issuing the test certificates and reports of outcomes of testing with recommendations.
  • Ensuring test deliverables are completed in the timescales agreed with the project, including accurate tracking and monitoring of testing progress against plans & defects against the defect management process.
  • Further responsibilities will be to support and/or co-ordinating testing processes in all testing phases of the project as appropriate.
  • To contribute to other forms of testing as required, such as testing for the upgrade for the current WLIMS.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Evidence of on-going professional development.

Desirable

  • Relevant testing qualification e.g. ISEB/ISTQB in Software Testing (Intermediate).

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of managing testing in highly complex technology based projects.
  • Experience of writing test strategies and plans for complex environments.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NHS/Healthcare environment.
  • Experience of working with clinical systems.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

  • Able to read and comprehend clinical business requirements and high level design deliverables well enough to commission/write detailed test cases.
  • Able to communicate with staff at all levels on complex business or clinical processes.
  • Able to be proactive in problem identification and pursuit of resolution.
  • Able to organise own work and the work of other testing professionals effectively.
  • Able to learn new technologies and IT systems quickly through both self study and professional courses.

  • An understanding of the software development lifecycles (e.g. AGILE / RUP).

  • Able to write basic SQL queries.
