Job responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:
Provide clinical oversight and guidance to clinicians delivering a home visiting service.
Ensure the highest standards of clinical practice and patient care are maintained.
Conduct regular clinical audits and implement improvement plans to ensure a high quality service is being provided.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Build strong working relationships with the Urgent Community Response service.
Oversee, supervise and appraise paramedics working across NICS services to support patient care and staff development.
Support NICS in the delivery of excellent patient care via development and continual adherence to a strong quality governance framework.
Attendance and presentation of data, at governance and performance meetings for both NICS and the NWS Same Day Urgent Care business unit.
Working with the Quality Governance team to investigate incidents, complaints and learning from patient safety events and ensure timely documentation on RADAR.
Compilation of reports for scrutiny at governance and operational meetings to provide assurance over the delivery of key performance metrics.
Act as the safeguarding lead for the Home Visiting service offering advice and support with nay safeguarding issues ensuring safeguarding pathways are followed and recorded on RADAR and liaising with the NICS safeguarding lead as required.
To maintain own clinical and professional competence and be responsible for own continuous professional development
Liaise with NICS colleagues to ensure full compliance with Care Quality Commission standards for safe and effective care.
Operational Management
Support the home visiting co-ordination team in overseeing the daily operations of the home visiting service, including scheduling and resource allocation
Plan, forecast and support with recruitment required to manage a local home visiting service.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and services to ensure seamless patient care.
In conjunction with the Service Manager and Clinical Director, manage the home visiting service budget and resources effectively.
Liaise and support the NWS Urgent Community Response service to ensure a more efficient and effective transfer of patients between services where clinically and operationally appropriate.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines for all staff who work in the service.
Participate in review and setting of policies and standard operating procedures relating to our home visiting service.
Ensure accidents and incidents within the service are recorded and reported as per local and national guidelines.
Patient Care
Conduct home visits to patients as necessary, providing advanced clinical care and support
In liaison with the patient GP, assess and treat patients in their homes, utilising advanced paramedic skills and knowledge.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
Quality Improvement
Identify areas for service improvement and lead quality improvement initiatives.
Collect and analyse data to monitor service performance and patient outcomes.
Implement evidence-based practices to enhance service delivery.
Learning and Development
Mentor and support clinicians, primarily paramedics, in their clinical practice and professional development.
Organise and deliver training sessions and inductions
Complete, review and monitor competency assessments, identifying any further training and development as required.
Keep updated with the latest clinical guidelines and best practice and ensure NICE guideline updates and MHRA alerts are disseminated to the Home Visiting team.
Ensure staff de-briefs are carried out for all serious and untoward events.

Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of NICS may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the NICS policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data
Health & safety:
The post-holder will implement and lead on the full range of promotion and management their own and others health, safety and security as defined in NICS Health & Safety policy and NICS Infection Control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to)
Ensuring job holders across our services adhere to their individual responsibilities for infection control and health and safety, using a system of observation, audit and check, hazard identification, questioning, reporting and risk management.
Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of health, safety, and infection control statutory and best practice guidelines and ensuring implementation across the business.
Using personal security systems within the workplace according to NICS guidelines
Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks across the business
Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills, initiate, and manage the training of others.
Actively identifying, reporting, and correcting health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)
Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
