We are seeking a None-Executive Director with a focus on Quality Governance.
You will report to the Chair of the Board of Directors.
This position is offered on 6 hours a month.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Non-Executive Director (NED)
with a focus on clinical governance to join our Board and contribute to the
strategic leadership, governance, and oversight of the Federation. As a NED,
you will bring independent oversight of our clinical governance, risk
management, and quality assurance systems. The ideal candidate will bring
experience in health or care service quality, a strong understanding of
governance, and the ability to challenge and support the executive team to
ensure continuous improvement, safe care, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic oversight of the Federations quality, governance, and risk management frameworks
- Ensure that patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and service user experience are central to Board discussions and decisions
- Monitor key quality indicators, safeguarding compliance, complaints, incidents, and regulatory inspections (e.g. CQC)
- Challenge and support the executive team to maintain high standards of clinical governance, data protection, and compliance with NHS frameworks
- Chair or participate in the Integrated Governance Committee where applicable
- Champion a culture of openness, learning, and continuous improvement
- Provide assurance that systems are in place to identify, assess, and manage operational and strategic risks
- Ensure effective governance, risk management, and compliance with regulatory requirements, including NHS England guidance and the Companies Act
- Contribute to the development and scrutiny of strategic plans, ensuring alignment with NHS priorities and local population health needs
- Champion the interests of our local practices, patients, and the wider community
- Monitor organisational performance against key objectives, quality standards, and financial targets
- Support the Board in fostering a culture of openness, transparency, equity, and continuous improvement
- Bring external experience and insights to inform innovation, partnership development, and best practice.
