This is an exciting opportunity to join the Transfusion Transformation programme team as a secondment/fixed term role.
The forthcoming Transfusion Transformation strategy outlined key priorities to improve clinical and laboratory transfusion practice, NHSBT has commenced a programme of change to deliver specific objectives.
We are looking for an ambitious leader who will use their transfusion expertise to develop, establish and deliver projects supporting the digital integration of Red Cell Immunohaematology (RCI) services across hospitals in England. It is an opportunity to work across national frameworks, gaining strategic experience in a programme that will expand your knowledge and skills.
You will work closely with service leaders to plan improvements that will make a difference to patient care; digital developments will be a key enabler for this change.
Note: This is a national role, requiring travel across England based on business needs. The role offers a hybrid working option. You will be assigned a base location, which could be one of the NHSBT main centres or blood centres. The exact location will be confirmed after the final interview and mutually agreed upon with the line manager during the verbal offer stage.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will play a key role in supporting Red Cell Immunohaematologys (RCI) objectives detailed in NHSBTs Transfusion Transformation programme.Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and delivering Transfusion Transformation RCI projects, addressing, the introduction of new technology and service development, to better integrate RCI services.
- Supporting the translation of the Transfusion Transformation RCI deliverables into a workplan with key performance indicators and, ensuring milestones are defined and delivered.
- Leading, motivating, and influencing colleagues, actively participating in change programmes and projects, encouraging team building at all levels.
- Developing and delivering appropriate documentation to support the change, for example, service specifications, standard operating procedures, quality plans.
- Collaborating with the team to map out complex interdependencies, resources requirements, risks and assumptions.
- Working with internal colleagues and external suppliers in creating new systems of data flows between NHSBT and hospitals.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
