Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant are delighted to offer an opportunity to join the NHS Organ Donor Register team as an Administration Officer.

The NHS Organ Donor Register (ODR) is the UKs confidential record of more than 30 million people, who have recorded a decision to donate or not to donate organs or tissue in the event of their death.

This role is an opportunity to help contribute to saving and improving lives through administratively supporting members of the public make their organ donation decision known. This is a full time, permanent position and plays a key part in ensuring that the ODR department delivers an excellent service to both the public and users of the system.

Main duties of the job

The role of ODR Administrator is key in supporting the NHS Organ Donor Register, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing high volumes of administration tasks to help process and validate registrations on the NHS Organ Donor Register, ensuring the highest levels of quality and accuracy.
  • You should be comfortable navigating administration screens of bespoke database, making updates and amendments in line with agreed processes.
  • Working as part of a team, ensuring all records and workloads are processed in accordance with agreed priorities and levels of service.
  • Communicating with members of the public, supporting them with general enquiries and occasional complains.
  • You should be comfortable working within a team environment to problem solve and share workloads.

  • Minimum of GCSE grade 4 / grade C or above (or equivalent qualification) including English and Maths.

Experience

  • Experience of undertaking general administrative and clerical duties.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel to maintain spreadsheets and produce letters / reports in an appropriate format.
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment, handling conflicting deadlines and priorities.
  • Experience of working in an environment where data protection and confidentiality is important.
