Job summary

Your essential role in participating in and supporting the HACCP and environmental monitoring (EM) programmes at NHSBT will directly contribute to the saving and improving of patients lives.

The primary role is to participate in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) studies and support the Environmental Monitoring (EM) Programmes within NHSBT.

Working across directorates you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people to drive performance.

This role will give you the opportunity to gain experience in HACCP and EM and develop your skills in coordinating and planning a programme of studies across the organisation. The successful candidate may be based at any of our main centres in England, by agreement.

This role can include some flexibility and may accommodate part-time or compressed hours for the right candidate. This will be a minimum of 22.5 hours per week.

Travel to other NHSBT sites will be required but you will be given as much notice as possible.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting the HACCP Programme and provide the microbiology expertise, with reference to bio-contamination, cross-contamination hazards, and Environmental Monitoring in the HACCP studies.
  • Be responsible for co-ordinating, arranging, planning, and administrating the HACCP Study Programme and HACCP plan meetings across NHSBT Directorates.
  • In conjunction with the Lead Specialist EM & HACCP, senior leaders, QA, and process owners, maintain and further develop the HACCP Study Programme, working to prioritise studies relating to existing and new processes/products undertaken within NHSBT.
  • Together with the Lead Specialist EM & HACCP, provide advice, in area of expertise, in the resolution to internal and external incidents/findings and regulatory inspection outcomes relating to GMP cleanrooms.
  • Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of and provide advice and support on practices, licensing and regulatory requirements in all areas associated with microbiology and environmental monitoring relating to cleanroom practice and within uncontrolled areas.
  • Supporting with gap analysis for updated relevant regulations to ensure compliance to regulations is maintained.
  • Liaise with key managerial, quality assurance and operational staff nationally across NHSBT sites in relation to the HACCP Programme and Environmental Monitoring of GMP processes both in cleanrooms and uncontrolled areas.
  • To deputise for the Lead Specialist EM & HACCP where required.
